Looking Out For The People Around You

Looking Out For The People Around You Wp

You may be tempted to say, “he’s depressed again.” “She’s always anxious.” “Here’s that pattern I’m so familiar with. I’ve seen it so many times before.” And then you’re free to dismiss the person who is reacting to life in this way.

I invite you to look again and see what’s really going on. Go deeper. Listen in a way you’ve never listened before. Be more sensitive, wiser and more conscious.

Many people are struggling. It looks like it’s always looked. The same old pattern. But inside it’s as if there’s a battle going on for their soul. Their aliveness and engagement with life is being deeply challenged.

What a beautiful opportunity to have the conversation you never had before. To hear what’s really going on. Not what you or they think is going on. To sense deeply into the struggle for life that is being played out all over the planet.

This is the shadow of rapid transformation. It puts huge pressure on people who are already feeling lost or confused.

It’s a nameless, formless pressure that makes a person doubt the very essence of life. It doesn’t appear to be caused by anything in particular, although there may be small triggers along the way.

It may be very hard or almost impossible for them to share or express it clearly. It easily becomes internalised and can lead to despair.

Please look out for the people around you. It’s not time to dismiss their reactivity. It’s time to let them show you a side of yourself that may have been hidden before. A deeper, gentler aspect. An ability to see what’s not obvious. A willingness to be curious at a new level. A determination to share a moment of intimate connection with a person you care about.

This is a time for our souls to reach out to each other and connect. This way we remind each other why we’re here. We light the way for each other in dark and challenging times. And we smile together, because we know each other.
