FeldenFit stories 

Stronger than 20 years ago
It took me a while to embrace the Feldenkrais mantra that 'less is more', as I was coming from a Yoga-Pilates-Fitness 'more is better!' background.

I had very limited range of motion in one shoulder following a break and insertion of stabilising metalwork, and I had spent years working with physios to get the movement back. By 2020 the improvements had plateaued and I assumed that there was nothing left to find.

Quite astonishing to me then that the FeldenFit series allowed my shoulder to explore and find not just a tiny bit more range of motion, but I am now practically back to full range. Something my surgeon in 2012 promised to me would never happen.

I'm in my mid fifties, I move better, and I am stronger and more capable than I was 20 years ago. Feldenkrais has played a massive part in that and I now recommend it to anyone who is trying to improve their way of moving.

Meet Your Instructor, Catherine McCrum 

 
Energy Expert Sarah McCrum

I work with a wide variety of individual students ranging from professional athletes, musicians and actors to people with chronic pain issues, injuries or those simply wanting to become more in tune with how they move in daily life.

I teach regular workshops for the general public and also to Pilates and fitness teachers, physiotherapists, runners, tennis and golf coaches and ski instructors. I also teach a number of online programmes for riders with Dr Thomas and Shana Ritter.

And yes, I"m Sarah's sister.

 
 
How Was the Course Developed? 

Catherine has over 30 years experience of training and teaching people in sport, fitness and movement. She has been a Guild-certified Feldenkrais practitioner since 2002. She also has a masters in Gestalt Psychotherapy.

The FeldenFit programme has emerged out of her research into how we can best prepare ourselves and our bodies for optimal performance in our chosen activities, sport or art. The series of movement lessons also teach us how to inhabit our bodies in the most comfortable and effortless way possible.

These lessons do not exercise the cardiovascular system or strengthen your muscles with weights. Rather, each 5 to 10-minute exercise focuses on sensory motor learning which is the means by which you improve your motor skills, the health of your posture and the ease and comfort of your movement which are essential components of health and well-being. They also give us the easy physical and mental confidence of the great athlete.

Content 

The course consists of a daily video exercise, 5 to 10 minutes long. Each video is led by Catherine, who describes to you what to do and demonstrates the movements at the same time. 
  Days 1 to 7 
Discover the power of your true centre  
Start the course with a body scan and then explore how to Improve your balance and discover the power of your centre. Each core exercise helps you find more symmetry in the use of your trunk, lengthens your spine and improves the co-ordination of the pelvis, spine and chest. 
  Days 8 to 14
Feel agile and free  
Free up the legs, hip joints and pelvis. When your legs feel free from the constraints of previously over-worked muscles, you will feel agile and free and have a serious spring in your step!
 
  Days 15 to 21
Improve your spatial orientation  
Have you ever noticed that the great athletes always know where they need to be in a nano second? They know where every part of their body is in space and are highly aware of every part of their environment. These movement sequences give you a taste of the path to excellent spatial awareness. Learning to roll (or even fall with safety)  also has a profound affect on your internal confidence. 
  Days 22 to 26
Develop true strength
Days 22 to 26 focus on developing true strength by improving your ability to use ground forces to move you through space. The efficiency and power of the muscles is dependent on your ability to find the dynamic support from the ground and transmit that force through your bones and joints in the simplest and most effortless way possible. These simple movements will bring that concept to life.

Put it all together
Bring everything you've learned together into a series of flowing sequences, and end the course with a final body scan.

How do I access the course materials?

All the recorded materials are hosted on our course platform. Live workshops are run on the Zoom videoconference platform, which you can easily access via desktop, mobile or tablet.

How long can I access the course?
You have lifelong access to all course materials. Since no one knows how long "lifelong" really is, if we need to close the platform in the future for any reason we will contact you and let you download everything before we close it.

How does the guarantee work?

Participate wholeheartedly in the program, join the live coaching or watch the recordings, and commit to improving your physical movement. If, after two weeks, you are not experiencing any change, send an honest email to Sarah explaining where you are at and where you are stuck and she will ask Catherine to coach you via email or in live sessions until you start to experience the tangible transformation you came here for. If this doesn't work we will issue a full refund.
